Albany soon will not only be the capital of New York State, but shortly it will be the home of the country's largest Wal-Mart Supercenter. Opening sometime in this May and located at Crossgate Commons, this attraction will boast over 259,600 square feet.
Just moments ago as I was writing this blog my wife came in to give me a kiss goodnight...She looked over my shoulder and read the headlines and said to herself...That's is some scary shit...As she shut the door behind her I laughed to myself...and then I began to wonder...Is it really scary? Or is it a blessing in disguise. Wal-Mart has changed the meaning of one stop shopping once again...With over 259,000 square feet if you can't find what you are looking for in this store you might be plum out of luck.
What makes Wal-Mart so successful? I can remember K-Mart trying this idea in the mid-nineties and it lasted for MAYBE 6 years then it went out of business. I look forward to watching the affect this Wal-Mart is going to have on our local economy...
If you look throughout the Capital Region...The landscape is changing drastically...for the good I will venture to say!! Everything from the new Colonie Center to the Wal-Mart Supercenter our local job market is beginning to look brighter. As a real estate professional I am always interested in our local economy.
As Ray Kroc (creater of McDonalds) once said to a group of MBA Candidates...After asking them what business they thought he was in the students laughed and said that is easy...your are in the hamburger business...
He responded with a similar laugh and said "one may think that, but I am really in the real estate business." It is through real estate that one can secure their financial future...Now it may not be to the extent of a Wal-Mart or McDonald's, but in our own way we to can secure our financial future... Even Sam Walton's or Ray Kroc's journey started with the first step. Secure your financial future research and invest in real estate...TODAY

I hate to rain on your parade, but it will only be the largest Wal-Mart unitl the next one is built.  They advertise all of them as the largest during the building phase.....gets the town talking.  Not a bad idea.
