I think often of the word "Destiny."  I sometimes wonder how much is really ‘written in the stars for you' and how much free will we have over each and every decision.  I believe we can always change the course we are on, but should we?  Are some things absolutely MEANT to happen?  And shouldn't we allow them to occur?

If you know me at All you know I don't believe in coincidences or accidents.  Funny thing is, I never really did; this did not come after some revelation in my life, it was rather just the way I believed things to be.

Many years ago while in my very first job as a shampoo assistant in an upscale salon, the BUZZ was all about an Astrologer coming in to get her hair done.  This was my first introduction to Western Astrology and it was certainly an event there.  I met a woman named Arlene Millman for the first time and just from knowing my sign, I felt as if she'd known me forever.  It was so fascinating to me that I went on to study it, even doing charts for a short time---way back when.

Of course during our Feng Shui Courses we were introduced and learned Chinese Astrology.  Perhaps it was my years of study under Western Astrology or perhaps because most of it just made more SENSE to me that I have still followed that more closely then Chinese Astrology.

Enter our "local" Astrologer of Long Island, someone I have been seeing on and off since I was 17.  Shortly before my illness, I had decided that five years was long enough for a reading and had recently had an appointment.  My astrologer is no longer the local celebrity he used to be---the wait is now very long and his accuracy well known; people now come from all over to see him.

I was fine that day and went with a friend.  Absolutely NO illness (or any evidence that I could see that particular day).  When he called me in, the very first thing he asked me about were health issues---many he said and over the course of at least the last year.  How could he KNOW, I thought, I haven't seen him, spoken to him...or knew anyone in common with him.  It was in my chart he pointed out while he also told me that through this last year and everyone I have seen, no one has EVER been able to put a diagnosis on it. 

Not yet knowing my profession as a Feng Shui Consultant, he said something that really made me sit up and it stuck with me:  My home, he said, had been "battered" in a manner of speaking as well....And his words?  "AS YOUR HOME HEALS, SO WILL YOU." "Now they will find answers."

Pretty profound perhaps for anyone who has gone through the home and health issues I have but even MORE so for a Feng Shui Consultant.

As a post script, I received a call today from the Engineer I had finally hired.  The water tables are fine, my home can be repaired and he knows some good people that can finally help me put this all behind me.  Of COURSE I should have known (and somehow did) that as my home heals, I will---and it's beginning.  You just have to love the way the Universe works!

Carole - You're hitting on some highly complex, profound and confounding questions of destiny, fate, coincidence and predestination - karma -  that the scholars have spent centuries debating. I believe we choose on a higher level, from the place of our 'higher' 'knowing' to experience our respective lives. From the position of choice, I do believe we determine our direction and the events that occur that will be most beneficial for us, can change and alter them through various means & through awareness.

Karma - the events that happen to us - of course is superceded by enlightenment - yet who among us is perfectly enlightened.

What a great post. I, too, am glad the doctors have finally come to understand what you seemed to have know all along. As for the destiny, I tend to agree with Deborah's comment above that we have predetermined what will benefit us most in this go around to achieving enlightenment. Now that the home and health issues have been named, they can be addressed.

Carole, that quote about the home healing linked to the person healing I think is a bullseye for someone involved in Feng Shui. That would be you. Me, not being an expert on ths subject like yourself, can see how too much negativity in a home is bad for its occupants. Almost like the drain on energy with a poorly laid out room full of furniture or a messy desk, many things in a home need healing. That quote was as meaningful to you as me.

Destiny or free will? I take the Forrest Gump answer. I think it's both. Some things you can control, and some things you can't. On no coincidences, I'm not sure. I know God is watching us so His hand is right there in the mix so maybe you are right that there are no coincidences.

Fred, i was fortunate enough to have learned the Law of Attraction many years ago and teach it to my daughter....I sure wish I had known it before.  The "Secret" and some physical changes are exactly what Feng Shui are all about!

Kris, I did not want to go for many years because I didn't want "bad" news....years ago I went to psychics and while I believed some were good there are things we are probably best not knowing.  An astrology reading is different because there are well aspected times for you to do things....take a trip or fix a house :)

Missy, I am just so happy to be home and be able to handle things here and thrilled that the damage to my home wasn't permanent.  And am overdoing everything so I can now get it restored as soon as possible.

Cynthia, I honestly was FINE that day, there was no way to tell I was having any health issues....yet he pointed them out in my chart.  How profound for me that since I believe surroundings affect a person so much he would come out with those exact words.

Rosario, According to him I have some wonderful aspects finally arriving in my sign--how nice to hear :)  If all this is mind over matter I am already ahead :)

Teri, It is not just true for me about your surroundings but for everyone....I was just amazed that he saw all those health issues AND my home.  I have the top people I can find working on it (the house) and am looking forward to getting resolutions finally.

Deborah, It IS a huge subject and I do believe we are born with a certain Karma to fulfill--which doesn't take away our free will.  Complex is absolutely right but this reading was SO accurate I wanted to pass it along for thought. 

Sally, What a breath of fresh air you are.  I opened the windows and let it all in!  It is awful what you are reduced to in a hopital where your world narrows and you always want them to call the person NEXT to you :) Thank you!

Marzena, Thank you, I believe that as well.....although such a sad place gives you pause to reflect and ask why some people have to endure such pain and illness. 

Rich, It was partially the struggle of doctors not paying attention to what I have been telling them and not being able to find competant people to fix my home.  I believe I am on the road to BOTH and am thrilled about it.....and looking forward to the first really warm day to get into the City which always revives me :)

Joan, A Western Astrologer is not likely to give you "bad" news....they DO give you well aspected times to do things.  For me it was exactly what I needed to hear!

Arina, It is certainly complex and life is filled with lessons, learning and FUN.  I choose to live as high as I can but a little spiritual assistance, especially in this particular case was so helpful!

Gary, Wasn't it "Life is a box of Chocolates" ?  Funny that I found some profound answers in that movie :)  This mans words were more meaningful to me than I can say because where before they all were "stuck" for answers relating to home and health, a wonderful planet has moved into my sign that SOLVES.  And I have this on tape.

What a great post.  I have always been a believer as well.  I am intrigued by what can be told of ourselves by Astrologers and the like.  It is nice to feel that you have turned the corner of this mystery.  Good luck to you and your home during the healing process.

Good morning Carole,

I thought I had commented on this post....I remember reading it....I must have been totally out of energy at the time!

I've been thinking a lot about how our environment reflects our state of health and your post really re-inforced my thinking.

I don't know if you're aware of the 'field' theory or not, however I believe that we each consciously choose which field to be immersed in and there are many layers of fields, which all hold the same people, buildings, etc. The difference in each of them is the situations or occurrences. If we choose to always look at the negative sides of things and allow those thoughts to manifest within our being, we will experience negative things happening all around us, in our relationships, with our physical things like cars, homes, etc and with our health. We actually 'exist' in a different dimension or world when we think negatively or expose ourselves to negativity.

Once we choose to be positive and only see the positive and release ourselves from all outcomes, we begin to exist in the positive field and things flow smoothly along.

Here is a link to a place you can go to study this. I've never been there and have held this belief all of my life, so was glad to find a whole group of people who teach this.
