Best practices in business dictate that you review your goals and tasks daily, not yearly. Certainly you should physically pull out and read your yearly goals--this is a minimum. The very act of reading your goal will excite you and remind you of what you wanted to do. Remember back in Nov-Dec when you began writing your Goals for the year? You had excitement and anticipation. Pulling out your goals regularly reminds you of that positive energy. The more positive energy you have going through your system every single day is going to pull you along. Being pulled along by positive results is so much easier than disciplining yourself to the next task. Geez, duh.
Real estate agents like to talk about themselves rather than listen, not all of them, but it is a characteristic that is around enough to become a stereotype. The kind of bad agent who uses scripts to sell and is always trying to "ink you up" or "close" you. It should never be about their inventory, but always your needs. That is what the best agents do, they spend the time listening to your needs before they do anything. If your agent starts selling before they are asking, you have the wrong agent. All sales agents are not created equal. It is just like high school--there are "A" students and "D" students. You have to ask yourself, who do I trust to take care of this complex process involving my biggest asset for me. You need someone who listens for a living.
I listen for a living and that is why my team is called YourStories Realty Group with Keller Williams. Listening for a living means that I can hear your story and know what is important to you. Each person is different in what they want and need, not all are alike. Real Estate best practices include listening as a required skill. Listening is a start, but competency is a must. If your agent is not competent with the process enough to explain in simple terms the step by step way to you what will happen, you are not working with the right agent. While no two people are alike, real estate process follows some strict rules and promulgated forms. Let's talk the levels of competence in another blog. Assessment, year to date, Boston Area Move In Homes is springing forth stay tuned.
