Last month I wrote a blog titled Kitchens Sell Houses in which I mentioned my wife and I were in the process of remodeling our kitchen. Well the kitchen is finally done, and below are before and after pictures of My Finished New Kitchen.
When I walk into a house the kitchen is the room which catches my eye the most. Most people feel the kitchen is the room which impacts the sale of a house the most and I agree. However, a homeowner should not put so much emphases on the kitchen they spend beyond what a house in their neighborhood can sell for.
It was with this in mind that my wife and I remodeled our kitchen. We wanted a kitchen we could enjoy for several more years before we consider selling our house, and a kitchen which would be a positive attractive feature when decide to sell.
Everything I have read suggests new cabinets, granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors are the items most desirable when it comes to resale, and what a homeowner should invest in. My wife and I took all this into consideration in our decisions as we choose the materials for our new kitchen.
Our kitchen is a modest size eat in kitchen, and I was surprised at how affordable the final cost was in the end. We put in new:
- Cherry Cabinets
- Gallo Napolli Granite Counter Top
- 3 1/4" Wide Rustic Red Oak Hardwood Floor
- Ceramic Tile Back Splash with a Glass Tile Trim
- Stainless Steel Appliances
We were very pleased with the finished product, and hope you enjoy the pictures below of the process from start to finish.
The picture above and the one below are pictures of our old kitchen before we started to remodel.
We had 3 layers of linoleum floors in our kitchen, the picture above is of the first original floor in the house in 1976.
The picture above is of our brand new Rustic Red Oak Hardwood Floor.
The next 4 pictures below are of the installation of the new cabinets.
The picture above is of a new pantry we put in. This used to be a closet in the hallway which had been used as a pantry. The new pantry is the full width of the closet, and has 5 pull out shelves.
The next 3 pictures are of the finished kitchen. I can't believe I forgot to take down the dish towel on the stove.
