REALTOR® Magazine Editorial on Blogging...Go ActiveRain!

 Blogging--We haven't seen anything yet...

Has anyone read the April 2008 REALTOR® magazine? On page 6 editor in Chief Stacey Moncrieff, has a great article called, " We're Out There Blogging--and here's Why"

Here is a direct quote, "Although the number of real estate pros who are blogging is relatively small, the impact the bloggers are having is tremendous."Stacy Moncrieff

She goes on to explain her initial reluctance to blogging and then later seeing others who were doing it that accomplished some pretty fantastic things. She concludes with offering the reader to join the editors of REALTOR magazine on their new blog and get behind the scenes...she also offers to return the favor and scan the blogs of those that do particpate in their blog to look for commentary that they could translate into magazine copy. That is pretty cool...

What really spoke to me in the editorial as well as the other supporting articles on blogging in the magazine was how accepted blogging has finally become. When the venerable REALTOR® magazine dedicates it's editor in Chief's editorial to supporting and promoting blogging you KNOW that this is a tool that has been tried, tested and proven valuable to REALTORS®.

REALTOR MAGAZINE BLOG

Many ( okay..ALL! ) here on AR certainly already recognized the benefits and new resources available to them from blogging but I think we haven't seen anything yet. As Stacey said, there still are relatively few real estate agents who are blogging but now with the tide turning and the momentum building I predict we will see a heavy increase in our blogging community.

MORE bloggers = MORE shared wisdom

MORE bloggers = MORE referral and networking opportunities

MORE bloggers = MORE success in our chosen profession

...and we can all thank ActiveRain for having that vision before most everyone else and creating the forum and environment for the real estate community.

It`s wonderful to finally see The Realtor magazine stand behind what we as Realtors do.

For some reason it`s been a long time forth coming.

I just read the article this morning.  It is nice to start getting some validation.  While so few agents blog the majority don't really understand it's merits, or understand the networking or referrals that evolve from it. Or how addictive it can become.

I think the number of Realtors blogging will remain low.  Even when they know others are successfully using it many still will not do it or see it as a waste of time.  Right now if you look at the 79,500 members here you notice only a small fraction of them are actually actively blogging.

I wish I got into blogging sooner than I did... I found Active Rain but it took me a while to really figure it out and realize all it had to offer... oh well better later than never! I love it here...nice to see you around.

Personally, I've been impressed by every issue of REALTOR magazine so far this year, and yes, I read the latest issue including Stacey's editorial!  As I exclaim to my office every month, "There's some GREAT stuff in here"!

I agree with Jason.  As a matter of opinion; I put forth the proposition that you may find a correlation between "active bloggers" and "active readers" of REALTOR magazine?

Thanks,

Scott: Yeah, I agree...it does seem like now they are representing us better

Miriam: It IS addicting...that's for sure. That kinda surprised me because I first felt like it was a chore...then it changed fast!

Jeremy: COOL signature! How long did it take to do all the blue dots??

Jason: The fastest growing part of our profession is YOUNG agents and with the majority of veteran agents about to retire, I think the young agents will be the ones jumping on the blogging bandwagon. I still think we will see a marked increase in the next few years. IMHO!

Serena: Hello! Thanks for stopping by our Blog!

Kim: Hey there NH neighbor to the south! So, I took a look at your blog and was blown away! Wow! 325 comments on your article on cutting commissions? I can't even imagine that. I am just excited to see nine people actually took the time to read what I wrote in this little article. I will have to e-mail you regarding your experiences with Point2Agent and see what you think...Thanks for being around!

Jim: I would agree with you Jim...active readers of the mag and active bloggers are likely quite high. Still, with younger agents coming onboard and older agents retiring I think the balance will shift and we will see an increase in the blogging world sooner than we think. IMHO! :)

Blogging and AR are something I do first thing in the morning and last thing at night.  It's that important I believe.  We haven't even touched the surface as to what it can really do for our business.
