This is a general warning to anyone who is using Microsoft Defender. I ran across this program a couple of weeks ago and installed it (it is for free on the Microsoft website) since it sounded like a good addition to my computer's protection. Then the fun began..............
I started getting pop up black boxes that informed me that I had a system 32 error and 'the syntex of the command is incorrect' - whatever that means!
These black pop up boxes flashed every 4 second (yes, I timed them) and I could not do anything! I called my IT genius son who walked me through steps to alleviate the problem. I also happened to talk to his father, who is the Siemens Europe IT security guy, and he mentioned that he had problems in the past with pop up boxes after installing the same software. He suggested I remove it and keep it off.
It has NOT been easy to get rid of! I run my virus scan (another free program, this one from Germany) and it is gone! I reboot and the black boxes are back, so I have to run my virus scan again - I don't know how to fix this totally and have my two IT guys trying to figure it out in their spare time - but I did want to warn others and if somebody out there has a cure for this problem, I would love to hear it!!!!
