Downpayment assistance is NOT just for first-time Florida homebuyers. Floridians should start by checking The Florida Housing Finance Corporation's website. Under the 'homebuyers and renters' tab you will find information about the SHIP (State Housing Initiative Partnership) program, Local Housing Assistance Plans (LHAP) and other programs.
In addition to The Florida Housing Finance Corporation's website, there is Fannie Mae's Homepath Program which requires only 5% down payment. The Pinellas County Housing Authority is also an excellent starting point for information on specific programs here in beautiful Pinellas County!
While it does take time to do the research and there are often free classes involved to qualify for this assistance, if you have good credit and proof of employment but simply do not have the necessary downpayment, there IS help out there.
