Friday Fun: An Almost Deserted Beach

A heavy marine layer keeps most people off Sandyland beach, except for the locals walking their dogs. As we crossed the channel, we noticed a creature on the sea wall that protects the homes from the high tides.

A blue heron was perched on top of the rocks watching something in the distance, we are sure the bird was not reading the sign, warning people to keep off the rocks. It was nice to have company! Wishing everyone a great weekend!

Alexandra, herons are my favorite bird! They remind me of my fascination with the prehistoric that I studied as a child. Love them and I am on the eternal quest for the perfect Heron Photo....still working on it.

Hi Alexandra, Seeing these photos , which I really like, reminds me of something I shared with Pat Kennedy in a comment this morning. Without AR, would we ever be able share things like this? Doubtful. And if your mind switches to Facebook, it was AR that started this sharing of these community and local images and Facebook didn't provide this sort of sharing until a couple years later.

You are so fortunate to have the beach area so close. It is one of the reasons I miss the Hawaiian Islands. Lived on Waikiki just a little over 2 years. I like to spend time on the beach, even if the weather is not too sunny. The only problem is that many beach umbrellas are not of very high quality and can easily fly away or break in strong winds. I can recommend quality beach umbrella which I bought from beachBUB for a really good price. It has great mounts to keep it stable even in windy conditions.
