This weekend the University of California, Santa Cruz will be holding its Alumni Weekend series of events running until Sunday night. The alumni event is an excellent time for graduates to come see the changes and current research that have happened in the time since they graduated. Come see old professors and friends who had a major impact on your life and reconnect with them.
Some of the events that will be taking place during the Alumni Weekend include the SOMeCA 25th anniversary dinner where current and former student group organizers and current community leaders will come together to celebrate 25 years of SOAR at UC Santa Cruz. This event will be taking place Saturday from 6 to 9 PM at the Cowell Dining Hall.
Saturday night will also feature the Lick Observatory History and Telescope Viewing where guests will learn more about the history of the observatory and it's namesake, James Lick. Guests will also be able to look through two of the telescopes at the observatory following the lecture. This event will take place from 8 to 11 PM at the Lick Observatory, for directions click here. The cost to attend is $100.
Sunday will feature several brunches at the various colleges that make up UC Santa Cruz as well as the Digital Arts and New Media MFA Exhibits being shown at the Digital Arts Research Center on campus. Come experience the various displays put on by current MFA students that push the boundaries of digital media. Witness exhibits that are both interactive and immersive that deal with themes such as activism and representation in the digital space. This event will run from Noon to 5PM.
As an Alumni myself I am proud to have attended UCSC. The campus is not only an integral part of the Santa Cruz community but is internationally reknowned for the research that it conducts.
