Consumer Confidence at a 5 yr low as Housing Prices drop more than 10% in key markets.  The consumer still fears the worse is yet to come with the job market low, pricing rising, and lenders tight on credit.  As the prices dropped on homes for sale, the output was only a slight increase in the number of homes actually sold.  The good news for Charlotte, NC is our housing prices increased.  We were the only major city with an increase.

Stocks are holding on but expect movement as the week progresses.  Mortgage applications and New Homes Sales reports are due out tomorrow.

Good Luck!

Median prices have been rising in some markets but sales are off in some cases 30%.  Median prices are not indicative of the health of the market.  Atlanta shared that position that our median price was still rising along with Charlotte and in the last 2 months went negative with over a 69% drop in sales in January.  The median price was still marginally higher in December despite a major drop in sales.
