I am always on the look out for fantastic, affordable art.  I stumbled across this product some time ago and unfortunately it got lost in a " I have to check that out when I have more time " pile.  Anyone else have a bunch of those???  Fortunately the spring cleaning bug bit and we were once again reunited.  The company name is Textile Arts.  You can create instant art in under an hour to make marimekko.  With just a staple gun and an iron you can have a framed piece of art for any wall.  They offer two kits.  The frame kit includes 4 stretchers, picture wire, eyehooks and instructions.  You supply whatever type of fabric.  They also offer a fabric kit that includes all of the above, plus you can order fabric directly from their site.  They also offer a trade only discount if you pre-qualify your business information to them.  Frame sizes available are 14" to 60".

There website is http://store.txtlart.com/fabric.html

Enjoy and Cheers!

You are welcomed Tom.  I am going to order a few kits for my own home as I haven't been able to find the right art for my kitchen area since I am making it over.  I just love the idea that you could get fabric remnants and in just under an hour have a one of a kind, unique, perfectly sized piece of art to complete any look.

Hi Nora;

    I thought about you just this morning when I read that Linens and Things is possibly on their way out of business.  I know you'll have the latest buzz on any going out of business sales.  As to your question, there are two price points since there are two kit styles...one includes fabric purchased by them or the other is the frame material only.  The frames range anywhere from $5.00 a pair for the 14 inch size to $20.00 a pair for the 60" size.  You need two pairs per frame.  So if you were wanting a 14 inch square piece of artwork for example you would need to order two pairs of the 14" frame kits at a cost of $10.00.  Don't forget however, there is a trade only discount if you have a qualifying business.

Hope your friend enjoys the information and if she does go forth and orders a kit, hope you will share her beautiful handywork.

Cheers and hugs!

Gina,

I love this site, I get absolutely wound up with ideas when I find something like this, thanks for sharing!

Also I had not heard anything about linens-n-things going out of business but will keep an eye out for that.
