Blackhawk rests at the foot of the Mt. Diablo foothills covering 6,500 acres, just east of Danville.  Blackhawk is a prestigious, country club community, popular with entrepreneurs and professionals. The community was developed by Ken Behring, the former owner of the Seattle Seahawks and consists of primarily custom homes and some condominiums.  the 1989 census counted 1,824 housing units of which about half are single family homes with 9 or more rooms.  Since then the numbers have risen to 2,383 housing units.

Blackhawk offers the very best in amenities, architecture and views.  Two 18 hole championship golf courses, 20 lighted tennis courses, and a 25 acre sports complex are a few of the desirable amenities of this community.

Blackhawk students attend the San Ramon Valley school district.  They attend Vista Grand Elementary, Los Cerros Intermediate, and Monte Vista High School.  These schools generally score in the top 10th percentile.
