Yes, the ghosts in the south are afraid of water!

We here in the south love our large, inviting front porches complete with rocking chairs and a large glasses of lemonade on the table next to it.  It's what every Southern Belle aspires to have at the front of their homes.

If you notice one thing these southern porches have in common,  it's  the same color of their ceiling paint; blue.  Not just any shade of blue, it must be haint blue!

If you are not from the south or the Long Island Medium, you may ask, "What is a Haint?"  A Haint is a ghost or a bad spirit that has has passed onto the other side.  The haint blue represents water, and everyone knows that all ghosts are afraid of water.  The "water" protects the home from these evil elements from entering the house.

The next time you enter a home with the haint blue protection, you can sleep peacefully knowing that there will be no surprises for you in the middle of the night!

Laura,

Thanks for the wonderful explanation on front porch color in the south. I truly love southern big porches.
