Have you ever been picked up by a buyer?
I was and in a most unusual way. I had been out showing condos. Prospective buyers had asked for comps, which I had brought and given them in a folder along with my business card and the listings we were to see that day. This didn't work for them, so we parted for the day.
Later that day I got a got a call from a gentleman who said, You don't know me but... He continued... But you left some stuff in the lobby of the condo that my friend got and I would like to get it too. I didn't have a clue what he was talking about because I never leave stuff in lobbies.
After a few minutes I realized what must have happened. The prospective buyers I had taken out earlier in the day must have either dropped or put down the folder I had given them, which this gentleman's friend had picked up in his lobby thinking I had left it there for the residents. He then called his friend next door and said, I got this in the lobby. Did you get it too? To which his friend replied, No. So he gave him my number (because my card was in there) and he called me.
We spoke for a while and found out we had a lot in common. I sent him what was in the folder and promised to send more listings. I showed him a condo last week. It wasn't the one, but the perfect one will come up.
