While looking at some of Amelia Earhart's quotes, I came across several gems, like this one that I wanted to share tonight as well. So here is another thought for the weekend:
"Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace,
The soul that knows it not, knows no release
from little things;
Knows not the livid loneliness of fear,
Nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear
the sound of wings.
How can life grant s boon of living, compensate
for dull grey ugliness and pregnant hate
unless we dare
The soul's dominion? Each time we make a choice, we pay
with courage to behold the restless day.
And count it fair."
I have been pondering thise quote and realized just how true it is. it is impossible to truly feel peace in our lives if we live our lives in fear. I have heard an old saying that a coward dies a thousand deaths, while the brave die just once.
I don't know just how often we will face life or death decisions, but we do face decisions quite often that require courage. The courage to stand up for what we believe in, the courage to help those in need. Courage is also required to succeed in any endevor, leadership is an example of courage.
Often, writing your thoughts and ideas on a post like this is courage, but back to the quote, if we really wish for peace, we must have courage to make it happen!
