Speechless Sunday: Two Views of the Coral Tree

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Napa Consultants DRE00893924

Yesterday we were in Beverly Hills, and on our way home we take a shortcut via Holmby Hills, one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in Los Angeles.  As we passed Holmby Park, we stopped the car to take a picture of this magnificent coral tree.

This is a close up of the same tree.  We both have loved the coral trees and enjoy the sculptural aspect of its flowering.  Our home in Brentwood (Los Angeles) was north of San Vicente Boulevard, where the whole boulevard is lined with these beautiful specimens.  At one time, some silly city officials suggested that they should be removed to create an extra lane.  We were the first to sign the petition against that.

We have many coral trees in Santa Barbara, and the majority have gone through their cycle and are in full green leaf mode.  What a delight to add to our great day!

Happy Sunday,

Hi Ron & Alexandra - There was one of those in the courtyard of my apartment when I lived in LA long, long time ago - they're incredible when they bloom.

Ron and Alexandra, unfortunately I've never seen one of those trees. But I love public parks and the opportunities they provide for everyone to enjoy trees like that one!

Thanks for sharing your photographs. I was not familiar with coral trees. I guess I have lived a sheltered life.

Hi Alexandra, The Coral Tree is one extrdaordinay spectical. The flowers are so amazing. We have a couple in front of the Convention Center in SD Bay and they never disappoint. I haven't seen many down here in San Diego. I've done some close ups of the flower cone and they are stunning to examine.

Coral Tree BloomHi Alexandra,  I had downloaded an older photo of the coral tree. I am using an iPad and had it stored, so I thought I would share with you so others could see how amazing the bloom cone is.

Very pretty and colorful. I would have signed the petition too. Our trees need to be reserved.

Alexandra and Ron -- some ideas(removing trees to create an extra lane in Brentwood) should definitely be considered a form of temporary(or longer) insanity. We have so much asphalt, concrete and pavement in our cities and not enough beautiful landscaped areas which enhance the aesthetic appeal of the area and help to maintain its desirability to live there.  At least, that's the way I see it.

I have never seen one of these trees but can see why they are called coral trees.  I would think it's not just because of the color of their flowers but also because of the structure of their limbs.

Some silly city official is right. Goodness. Glad that never happened -  "they paved paradise, put up a parking lot," - sing it Joni. ;) Glad William added the close up - lovely bloom.
