Local Event Posts- Post Them Early Enough to Give People a Head’s Up!
If you include posts about local events in your blogging regimen, then let me pass on a tip that Richard Yates gave us several years ago. ( ok, I think it was Richard and if it was someone else, I apologize.)
When I first started writing about local events in Delray Beach, I would write them the day before or the day of the event.
However, it was pointed out to us that when people are searching for a local event, they often begin several weeks in advance.
I’m no SEO master or anything but think about it. When do YOU begin to search for events in your area?
Oh yes, there’s always last minute plans but I know that when I begin researching information on events in Delray Beach, there’s information on the event or city website, as well as articles in the local paper often 2-4 weeks prior to the event.
If, and I’m not saying you should or must, you write about local events, consider giving your readers some notice…. maybe 2 weeks at least.
You can always follow up with a “Weekend Events in Delray Beach” post if you want.
Other tips:
* Get out and take your own photos if you can.
* Experience the event and then you can provide your own perspective
* Give us some of your tips about the event or “things you need to know”
* Name, rank and serial number are for the military. Anyone can find that on the Internet. The value of your post comes from
your perspective…. your knowledge of the event and the area.
Happy Blogging!
