Zillow can be your tool - why not use it?

maui county map

I went to zillow.com today just to see if anything was new in "my towns".  It's quite amazing that it's such a blank slate still.  I'm going to use it as a tool to connect with buyers and sellers of Maui real estate.  I don't care if their zestimates are inaccurate - that's just another reason why a buyer needs an agent, and hopefully they will contact me.

Previously I have uploaded photos of my towns, because NOBODY else has.  Why not?

Here's what I did today....

In my towns there were no discussions going.  So I started some about RELOCATION PACKAGES, and put the links to my RELOCATION PACKAGES here on AR.  I also started some discussions in each town with links to my website.... why isn't anyone else doing this?  You can do it!

If consumers are going to zillow.com for local information about buying homes in your neighborhood - give them some information, and especially your contact info.  You can be the local expert.  What are you waiting for?  Take advantage of this free service.

Hey great article! I look forward to working on this!

Hi Scott - go for it!  If nobody else has claimed your town, it's all yours.

Lyn - thanks for your comments - did you remove them?  I agree with you on certain points about zillow.  I am not inputting any listings, just some pictures and links back to my website and this website... what's wrong with that?

Hi Georgina

Zillow has been good for me. I have used it for about a year or so. Got a couple of divorce lawyers to call me for real estate pricing advice. ha ha. I always like reading your blogs.

Hi Jeffery - nice to see you around!  It's good to see somebody has good things to say about zillow.  I guess it's all a matter of what you put out there.

03/25/2008 10:53 PM by Georgina Hunter Maui Realtor R(S) (Jim Sanders Realty Inc. - Maui)

I stop back to Zillow every now and again.  I admit, I was a little put off by much of the inaccurate info but I say the same exact thing:  "That's why people need agents".  I'll have to check back as it's been a while since I've been there,.

Great post to keep it in our minds.

Brian - I think you can't have too many links to your own site.... can you?

Georgina - this is a wonderful idea and I am going to check this out! thanks!

Thanks for the post Georgina.  I have heard of Zillow, but have never gone.  Its now on my list of sites to check out.  I think one reason some of these sites take a while to get rolling is because there are so many out there.  I never had a clue how much info was out there until I started looking!  Thanks again!

03/26/2008 02:54 PM by Ben Myers, GRI, REALTOR, Boise, Idaho, USA (Jagen Realty)

BJ - Every little thing helps.

Ben - Zillow might be a good thing or it might be a bad thing, but it's how you choose to use it that makes the difference.  Of course I might change my mind on that later.... : )

Georgina, Thanks so much for the great information! I am headed to Zillow to check it out! They do have some inaccurate info, don't they? Makes me crazy when clients say "Zillow says" blah blah blah....Thanks again! Elizabeth

Will have to check it out, thanks

Georgina-Hi.....hey how's your e-PRO Course going?  I think you have a great idea.....and whatever Lyn wrote, well I am going to assume it wasn't complimentary to Zillow.  I used Zillow once, and it was kind of fun.  Yes they were off, but I still liked the site.  It's a tool, not the end  all :)

Elizabeth - Might as well give it a try!

Mel - Thank you for commenting.

Kathy - Hi!  I'm over half way through and it's been a breeze.  Thanks for asking.

Georgia, Something happened that one day & AR was stuck! Posted the same thing 6 times which I removed. Thanks for your comment, I am glad you read at least one of the 6. I did leave one!

Hi Georgina - Thanks so much for the helpful tip.  I just checked out my area - Rockland County, NY - and while there are discussions going on, all of the input is from Real Estate Agents.  I think that I can, as you suggested, establish myself as the area expert in mortgages.

03/27/2008 02:23 PM by PTBAC

Lyn - it's odd - I saw all of your messages in my inbox, but none of them stayed here.  I was hoping that it was you that removed them, and not some unknown entity - a moderator.  I think it was a good comment.  Thanks for coming back.

Steven - well there you go... a change to get your name out there.

Georgina- After Blogging for awhile and reading all these Posts....it is a breeze, but still useful :)  Great to hear......

Georgina, I think the more places we can post that we are the "local expert" the better for our business.

03/28/2008 12:18 PM by Gary Woltal - REALTORĀ® Dallas Ft. Worth (Keller Williams Realty)

Kathy - I'm looking forward to getting my designation!  I have learned a few things, and that's what counts.

Gary - I agree - you can never have too much Google Juice.

Anne and Eddie - Just another tool in the tool box.

Brilliant idea,  I have never thought of using zillow that way.  I am currently checking out the discussions boards as I am typing this message!  Thanks
