Wellington Polo: Casablanca Wins USPA President's Cup, 16-8
Casablanca won with Grant Ganzi, Juancito Bollini, Wes Finlayson and Juan Bollini against Goose Creek (Collin McCosh, Maureen Brennan, Michael Bellissimo and Brad Blake) during the USPA President's Cup 8-Goal Tournament at the Grand Champions Club, Palm Beach Polo Club in Wellington FL with a 16-8 winning score on April 19, 2014.
Juan Bollini was named Most Valuable Player while Brennan’s third chukker mare won the Best Playing Pony honor.
Casablanca also won two major Junior Polo Training Foundation tournaments: the Jimmer Newman and George Oliver memorial Tournaments both at International Polo Club.
During the 10-day USPA President’s Cup tournament, the first game went with Goose Creek at 10-9 over Palm Beach Polo. In the second game, Palm Beach Polo was defeated this time by Casablanca, 11-9; and for the championship, Casablanca defeated Goose Creek at 18-6.
USPA President’s Cup has been played since 1969 throughout the country the last eight years in Wellington.
Before the President’s Cup, Team Black won with Chuck Stanislowski, Ursula LiPari, Jake Flournoy and Chip Campbel the USPA Board of Governors Cup Round Robin. Flournoy won Most Valuable Player honors.
In another Grand Champions at Palm Beach Polo championship tournament final, Pony Express (Bob Daniels, Justin Daniels, Benji Daniels, and Tomas Goti) defeated Ganaraska (Ian Angus, Marcos Onetto, Jonny Lavine and Tom McGuiness), 9-8, to win the Las Acacias 5-Goal Tournament.
