Everyone knows that Austin has become a mecca for artists of all types from around the world: music, fine art, spoken word, etc. Now, you have the chance to be a part of Austin public art on a permanent basis. The City of Austin's Art in Public Places (AAIP) is currently accepting applications from local area artists for two publicly commissioned pieces of artwork to be displayed in Downtown Austin (Wayfinding project) and the Pressler St Extension.

What: Downtown Austin Wayfinding Project
Applications Due: 5pm June 5, 2014
Budget: $32,000

Applications Due: 5pm June 5, 2014
Budget: $60,000
Artist Meeting: May 13, 2014 12:30pm to 1:30pm at Austin City Hall

To be a part of Austin public art at the Downtown Austin Wayfinding project, local artists living and working in the Austin metro area are being asked to submit their ideas on pieces of art that will engage the public through an interactive design. The project must incorporate several sites that are unique to the downtown Austin area. The Pressler St Extension project will be located along Reserve Road between Cesar Chavez and W 5th St. There will be a formal meeting for all applicants interested in the Pressler St Extension project on Tuesday, May 13th at Austin City Hall to provide information on what the AAIP is looking for and they will be available to answer questions.
