Our dream began with the purchase of a Tahoe Donner lot in 1998. In 2003 our dream came true with the completion of our mountain “cabin in the woods”, our weekend, holiday, and summer home away from home, soon to be shared by three generations of family members. Parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, plus friends from near and far have all come to visit, relax, and enjoy the many seasons Truckee has to offer. The home was built with split floor heating, so the upstairs would never feel too warm. And the door between floors allowed the kids to be as noisy as they wished, without disturbing the adults upstairs. We call before we arrive, to turn on the heat by remote. Our “cabin” is always warm and ready for our arrival. Winters were about Thanksgiving turkeys, ringing in the New Year, and cruising the ski slopes, not to mention assembling more jigsaw puzzles than we can count while we watched the snow pile up on the decks and ground. Summers were about riding bikes, playing golf, and swimming in the pools, after which we sat on the decks for hours barbecuing and star gazing. As we prepare to pass along our second home, we only hope the new owners will experience as much enjoyment from our Truckee “home away from home”, as we were blessed to receive.
