I often find myself wondering why things are the way they are. I had a friend call me in a panic yesterday. She was crying and was hardly understandable. She kept saying, "He didn't make it, he didn't make it." Because she is pregnant, my mind instantly flew to her and the baby. I am so thankful I was wrong about that. Her heart was broken because her husband went away to try out for Special Forces and didn't get selected. She felt responsible for the outcome despite this training being as intense as the Army's Ranger competition, I'm sure. I tried to console her by telling her that God does everything for a reason....making NO mistakes along the way. My example to her is driving behind the person going 12 mph in a 45 mph zone. We/I become so impatient but I think God puts us there to keep us from being involved in something farther up the road....to protect us. Each morning and night, my prayer is that God would surround us with His hedge of protection everywhere we go. She was finally able to get herself together to pick him up so he wouldn't see her torn to pieces.
She called me back today to apologize and to say thanks for helping her. I was happy I could help her but I know God puts others in your life for a reason also. She mentioned she couldn't reach anyone else yet my call went through. That is just God's way of taking care of his children....always providing and making a way for us. This is why I choose to follow Jesus and his example.
God bless each of you.
