Today marks the 50th Anniversary of JP Patches first television show hitting the Seattle airwaves in good ol' black and white.   He is truly a local treasure and at the Red Door in Fremont this morning, the scale model of the statue to be built in his honor (um...and Gertrude's) was unveiled.   To say I was thrilled to witness this event would be an understatement!   To see photos and a goofy video of JP and me, click here...

What a fun morning for you and all the others in Fremont!  I did not grow up in Seattle, and so do not really know much about JP Patches, but childhood memories are magical....  Rhonda, you must have some wonderful memories of JP Patches!

I really do, Deborah.  Every morning and afternoon I would watch JP.  He was just so funny.  Most of his shows were live and were adlib with a very talented crew.   He and Gertrude are still sharp as a tack and full of wit.   JP told Mayor Nickels that he (the mayor) has tunnel vision.  The crowd clapped and laughed.   It was a very fun event.
