Bedford County is one of the larger counties in Virginia and the county seat is the Town of Bedford. The Blue Ridge Mountains with the Blue Ridge Parkway is the North border and Smith Mountain Lake Borders the South side of Bedford County. The City of Lynchburg is just east of Bedford and Roanoke is west.
Bedford can be separated into areas. Forest is one of the up and coming areas. it has seen much growth over the last 10 years and is a destination unto its self. Forest VA sits in the eastern portion of Bedford County. Big Island is along the northern border of Bedford County. The Town of Bedford is in the middle of Bedford County and serves as the county seat. To the south is the Smith Mountain Lake area of Bedford.Several communities are in the western portion of Bedford. Among them are Montvale, Thaxton, and Blue Ridge.
Goode is located between Forest and the Town of Bedford. it has been a bedroom community but is now becoming much more popular. There are other areas of Bedford where people enjoy living such as Boonsboro.
