Benchmarks for Success - Setting Goals for Yourself - Cruising in a BMW in Greenville, SC

One day last week we had an absolutely beautiful day, the weather was just perfect! I was scheduled to go out and preview some houses in the local area with a colleague of mine. I've got four children and thus the minivan. My colleague said she would drive, so I hopped right into her new BMW convertible. It had been so many years since I enjoyed riding in a convertible with the top down. I couldn't believe I had gone from a busy, stressful day to a wonderfully relaxing afternoon with perfect weather and a luxurious ride in a convertible BMW! My colleague shared with me that the car was her reward to herself for working so hard and succeeding in real estate. I was so happy to hear her say this and see the smile on her face because she made it! She did it! She earned it! And...she did it in real estate! Her short term dream was the perfect automobile, and she realized her dream with hard work and persistence! This career as a Realtor can afford you the income to realize your dreams! My colleague did it! What is your dream? Short term? Long term? Have you mapped out how you will realize your dreams? Don't just go through the motions each day and each week without setting goals. Set benchmarks for success in your career and review them each morning. You'll enjoy life and being a Realtor so much more when you observe the accomplishment of each benchmark or goal you set for yourself!

Kirk my wishlist is about 3 pages long but anytime I reach a goal I reward myself. It is the best part of the long haul!

Good illustration and questions!  I find when I have goals/benchmarks I invariable achieve or surpass them.........When I don't have goals.......sooner or later I start flounder and lose myfocus. No the benchmarks aren't always material.......but let me put it this way........when its been about a certain type of house(ie. 1800 historic victorian home.........I got it)......when it was taking my whole family to Hawaii for my 50th (first ever vacation all togeth) I was able to do it............and when it was getting my dream car, a black jaguar..........1 got it!  Soummmm i think it works!  Although i am floundering a wee bit now...:-)l
