No hiding or distracting allowed. Staging in Burlington

By
Home Stager

Staging is not about hiding things. It is about highlighting the features of the home and showing the buyers how to live comfortably with a negative feature.

Before After

So, yes those broken tiles and faulty underlay have to be fixed. Placing that carpet over it is not an answer.

The water damaged bathroom vanity cabinet has to be repaired or replaced.

You cannot hide the damage to the kitchen counter by placing something on top.

The hole in the wall must be filled and painted. A large print is not the answer.

Staging is about more than fluffing pillows. It covers the condition of the house inside and outside. We aim to get your home in 'move-in' condition. We want you to present a sound product.

It is not wise to misrepresent your home to the buyers.

Make the repairs that your budget allows.

Inform your Realtor of any issues that remain.

No hiding or distracting allowed.

A consult with a Stager will help you prioritize the work so that you get the best ROI.

Janice, I like that as a stagger, you understand the importance of sellers disclosing all known defects/deficiencies about their home. Your advice is not only sound, it aligns with disclosure laws in my state. Making necessary repairs and staging a home to sell does benefit the sellers bottom line.

You need to disclose all those things anyway so you should either fix them or be up front about them.

Janice,

I think people forget that their home needs all the major things fixed before it's staged and put on the market, if they want a successful sale that is.

Thanks Kathleen. It's a misconception to think that stagers 'hide' things from buyers. We advise our clients to invest in their home one more time so they get the best ROI.

That's right Gene. Our job as stagers is to deal with the condition of the home. We want the seller to offer a sound product so that they can compete in today's market.

Trisha, sellers have become used to living 'around' these issues and don't realize they can cause problems when selling.

Just had this issue today with a seller wanting to place a rug over floor damage.  Not on my watch!  LOL!

Hi Janice, sometimes I feel like taking a shower after the consultation with seller's intentions of concealing unfinished stuff.

Sharon, it happens more often than you'd think. It's a common misconception.

Thank you Patricia! A consult is a good way to get a detailed plan for preparing your home for sale.
