Four Quick Ways To Adapt To Your New Neighborhood

Everybody seems to be super-busy now days, but what's the point in having a beautiful home in a great neighborhood if you don't know the goings on?

Here are four quick and easy ways to make the most of your new neighborhood:

250 x 228If there's a community association or HOA become an active member.  In addition to being able to put a face to your neighbors' names quickly, being more active in the association can give you great ways to make your neighborhood a better place to live.

Host a block party.  If you live on a cul-de-sac or a quiet street, why not get together with your neighbors and throw a barbeque or pot luck one weekend afternoon or evening?  A block party is a fun event and something that the entire family can partake in.

Go for walks. Especially if you have a dog . . . because dogs are born to walk, right?  When you're on foot you'll increase the odds of running into your neighbors on the street or in their front yards.  And what good neighbor could resist coming over to say hello to your cute, friendly dog?  Besides being a great way to exercise, walking can be an amazing way of getting to know your neighbors.

Another great way of adapting to your new neighborhood is to shop locally instead of driving across town to a big box shopping center.  Chances are that some of the local merchants are also some of your neighbors . . . so in addition to meeting some new friends you'll also be supporting your local community!
