Hi from Puyallup, WA

By
Real Estate Agent with Prudential NW Realty

I am new to real estate...and fairly new to WA.  I moved here from Phx AZ about 8 yrs ago.

I passed my real estate license test last Oct and started out part time.  Has anyone else tried/ or is doing     that? Brutal!  The company that I had transferred to WA with and worked for 10 yrs for was downsizing and moving a lot of work offshore, so as of 1/30/2007.... I am doing real estate full time.  Laying me off might be the best thing that they ever did for me......because when God closes a door He definitely opens a window.

Dealing with a little fear......I am definitely going through that window....head first and full force!!!

Love doing real estate (ok, haven't really "done" anything yet....but have lots of leads)...and have a dream of helping single mom's buy homes instead of renting.  Young couples, single dad's...anyone for that matter.

Anyone have any tips for a newbie?  Anyone going to the IBC in March?

Look forward to hearing from other ERA agents.

Vickie,

Thanks for stopping by and welcome to ActiveRain. My tip to you is to read everything linked in Welcome Wagon - A Newbie Manual to Active Rain. There you will find all the keys to unlock the doors here at AR. Read as many posts as you can, make comments and write your own.

I'll be in Vegas next week, so I won't be at IBC. But then you'll be writing a blog about IBC, when you return.....correct?

Vickie,

Welcome to AR.  Glad to see another ERA agent.  Wish I was going to the IBC but I can't make it this year.  One thing I learned(and it took me several years to accept it) was when you find a niche, Go With It!  I do a lot of manufactured homes and around the office the other agents were calling me "The Manufactured Home Queen".  I did not want to be known for just that, so I fought the niche.  Making a long story short, several years ago I embraced it and went with it, I did so many resales and HUD and REO's it paid for my vacation(Hawaii) 2 years in a row.  So, find a niche and use it along with everything else.

 Hello!

Yes, the IBC is next week....... and I will do my best with a Blog on it.  It is a great opportunity to take lots of classes and listen to excellent speakers.

Being new in the business, I am not sure of my niche yet....but I have had a lead become a sale since I wrote this blog.    So, perhaps my idea of being a Buyers rep. will become that.  Too early to tell. but of course, now I am lovin it even more!!!

Thanks for your comments.  I love AR.......... a lot of great info and support here!
