OC is #1 in Internet Access...

The 2007 Community Indicators report named the OC as #1 in Internet access. 

The report shows a picture of adults with access to the Internet, high tech diversity and patenents and investments.

Internet Access: The portion of OC's adults with access to the Internet rose to 79 percent.  The figure had been 70 percent in the first half of this decade when OC trailed Seattle, Austin and San Francisco by five percentage points.  Now OC leads Seattle and Austin by 2 percent and San Francisco by 3 percent.

High Tech Diversity:  The OC has 18 high tech sectors with employment above the national average.

Patents and Investments:  The number of patents granted to local inventors rose substantially to 2,408 - up from 1,837 in 2005.  As expected, venture capital for OC enterprises dropped.
