Entering the Blogosphere

This is my first time to "blog."  So hopefully I won't disappoint anyone that happens to come across this.  I hope to be able to help out people interested in commercial real estate with my insights.  I guess the best thing to do is tell you a little about myself, and what I've done in real estate.

About Me

I've worked in real estate since 2003, when I worked for a residential broker in Waller County, Texas. That's about an hour northwest of Houston.  While I wasn't an agent at the time, it was my first exposure to the "inner-workings" of real estate in Texas.  Luckily, I had some background knowledge as my Dad is an executive broker with Arkansas' largest real estate company.

I worked at this Coldwell Banker affiliate for a year before moving on to other things.  When I moved to Austin I decided that I should get back into real estate.  The commercial market here was HOT!  So I came to Buls Hodge Consulting, a boutique firm with only five of us in the office, and some people in Houston and Dallas.

Since coming to Buls Hodge, I've worked on a number of deals, big and small.  I've put clients in executive suites, sold some warehouse property, and worked both sides of numerous lease deals.  I've also had the opportunity to write a number of pieces (some of which were co-authored) analyzing the commercial real estate market in Austin for RedNews, a Texas commercial real estate publication.

Through my collateral duties, I've helped push more technology into the firm, including the new website we have just recently put online, and a much more extensive and thorough marketing strategy for both the firm, and our listings.

My Blogging Plan

My plan is to write about what I see happening in the real estate market, at the micro and macro levels.  I may write about the work in our office as well, if that seems to be of any interest.  I'll try to keep it pretty informal, and update you with new articles once or twice a week.  If people actually begin to read what I write, I'll pick up the pace and write more often.

Patrick:

First, Welcome to the AR.

I just read a post on a gathering of AR member to take place in Bandera Tx in the next couple of weeks.  I once had a contact with Seimens/Eagle there in Austin, in a prior career.  I have a brother in San Antonio.  I use to travel down to San Antonio on weekend and Bandera is Northwest of San Antonio on Rt 16.  I would not be suprise that there is not a road off of 35 that could take you to Bandera without going to San Antonio.

You may want to check it out - HEY!! All of you Texas Active Rainers - We're Having a Gathering & Barbeque!!!
