Welcome to the Island of Maui. What makes Maui such a unique island destination is the variety of things you can do on Maui. I have some quest staying with me that just got back from camping in Hana, and early tomorrow morning are heading up to the Haleakala Crater for the sunrise, which is an exceptional experience. Maui has something for everyone.
Many windsurfers dream of coming to Maui to windsurf. The north shore of Maui is the center of the universe for windsurfing. Learning to windsurf on beaches like Kanaha Beach is the perfect location for your first experience windsurfing. If your looking at learning to windsurf or you want to rent windsurf gear Hi-Tech Maui in Kahului is the perfect place to pick up windsurf gear, or any other water sports equipment that you might need.
I love getting off work early from selling real estate in the summer and heading down to Kanaha for a session before heading home. Kanaha Beach is one of the many Maui's beautiful beaches on the Northshore of Maui. You will always find friendly people to strike up a conversation with people visiting Maui from Canada, Japan to Italy. You also have the local underground locals that are very nice people and willing to give you a hand or help you with advice on just about anything. Some windsurfers split their time between skiing in the winter, then heading to Maui when the snow starts to melt.
If your looking for smoking hot windsurf action then you need to head to Hookipa Beach Park, located pass Paia Town on the drive out to Hana just a few minutes out of town. Hookipa is the jewel of windsurfing. In the winter you will see the best windsurfers in the world out ripping up the surf.
The early 80's was the first time I saw windsurfing at Hookipa. In the 80's we were all surfing Hookipa and this crew of hot windsurfers showed up on Maui. Guys like Malta Simmer and his brother Klaus, and Mike Waltse were just ripping the point up windsurfing. Guys like Craig Masonville charging giant waves. You have other great windsurfers like Robbie Naish a world champion windsurfer, he is still killing it in the surf, he also stand up paddles huge waves, and rips at kiting.
If you're looking for oceanfront homes in places like Spreckelsville Maui, There are a number of magnificent homes on the market. You can launch from your front steps into some excellent windsurfing conditions. Many people love the lifestyle of living in Haiku Maui. You will find homes for sale in Haiku on 10,000 sqft lots, up to two plus acre estates in lush tropical plantation homes.
Another popular windsurf company on Maui is Goya Sailboards. Francisco Goya owner, pro windsurfer and all around nice guy is on the cutting edge of windsurfing. Along with his brother Lalo Goya, Pacal shop manager and Keith Teboul shaper, pro windsurfer ripper, makes up a dynamic team to provide state of the art windsurfing gear.
