I ain't afraid of no ghosts...

...ok, well, may be I am. Are you? In fact, I am not afraid of ghosts because I don't believe in them. However, I do still get that creepy feeling when you walking into a strange new place. My great grandmother's basement was like a dungeon. It had a pull string light located at the bottom of very steep and narrow stairs. I would rush down and turn the light on as fast as I could, get what I needed, turn out the light, and race back up.

Savannah is said to be one of the most haunted cities in America. In fact, the history channel has it ranked in second place while parapsychologists seem to feel it's a winner. Because of this, there are plenty of ghost tours here. The only way to find out, is to experience Savannah for yourself. So, I have compiled a list of the ghost tours available. If you take any of these tours, please come back and tell me if this place is truly haunted.

Ghost Tours - Galore!

Ghost Cloud

Are you looking for a Creepy Crawl or a Creepy Stroll? Well, this is the tour for you. The first tour last over 2 hours and visits some haunted pubs along the way, adults only. They wanted you to meet all the "spirits". The second takes you along the historic district and last an hour and a half. For both of these, walking shoes is a necessity because you're on foot the whole time! Beware, this link plays the Ghostbuster's theme song.

Ghost and Gravestone Tour anyone? If you want to get into the Sorrel Weed House, the largest house in Savannah, why not see it at its best! Take the Trolley of Death around Savannah and experience our "ghostly" past. I found this cute map and thought I'd include it.

Talk a walk through the historic squares while being told of ghost sightings and house exorcisms on the Savannah Ghosts Tour.

Ghostly Nights offers 5 tours. Three by trolley. They actually tour a pirate's house. Then there are two walking tours.

Do you see dead people? If not, Sixth Sense Savannah Ghost Tours will try to make you! They offer several different tours and a number of different places you can tour. They have also started the Haunted Oatland Island Tour. With wolves' and other various animals around, I am sure it sets the right mood.

Ghostly Mountain

The Ghosts and Legends of Savannah is a walking tour that will even get into voodoo. They boast they have the friendliest guides. I wonder if they are all named Casper.

The Savannah Candlight Walking Tours offers two tours as well. They have the haunted history tour and the haunted pub crawl. Experience all the "spirits" Savannah has to offer. The one type of "spirit" is definitely real! The Pub Crawl Tour is for adults only.

The Ghosts of Savannah is a 90 minute walking tour. It spans a little over a mile.

Do you see the ghost in this picture?

Scary Ghost Tours claims that you have a 99% chance of taking a picture that will have a ghost in it. Learn about death, murder, and possessions. So, do you believe in ghosts yet?

The Original Ghost Walk Ghost Talk Savannah Walking Tour is a more informative tour that will tell stories based off a book.

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil Book Tour is a tour based on the book and movie. View the actual garden and other sights from the book and movie. I bought this movie as soon as we moved here. It is quite an interesting movie.

Hearse

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to ride in a hearse? If so, Hearse Ghost Tours are for you. You can be one of the few to ride in a hearse while alive. Talk about setting a mood?

I do believe, I do, I do. I have had a few run ins with spirits. I know, you will think I am strange. But I am not afraid of them, I have a Father whos name is above any of their names and I have taken authority over one that was in my parents house after I had bought it after they had both passed away. It may sound hard to belive, but until you have been there, you just wont know.

Chris: I haven't been on any here. I have been on many in Richmond, Virginia. I love haunted houses at Halloween time. I love scary movies, even though I haven't found any that actually scare me. There is only one movie to ever scare me and I was about 7 or 8 when I saw it. I want to do the hearse one. I have seen it a few times and it looks awesome. Oh and cute dog, btw.

Sara: It definitely is. We would love to scare have you sometime....hehe

Larry: Really, what converted you?

Susan: That is definitely interesting. My sister and I talked about this when we were little on halloween. The house we lived at  was across from a graveyard. That night we put in a scary movie, but the VHS tape made horrible chanting like noises and never played! I guess we weren't supposed to watch that movie.

Va: LOL.....ok. But if you ever feel the need, stop on by.

Tom: I would love to hear. These things fascinate me.

Christy-Like I said I never believed in ghosts until I moved into my new house, these events changed my mind.

-I was brushing my teeth in my 1st floor bedroom that has a office between my room and the living room with 2 doors both closed.  1am-I hear someone running across the the office floor.  I opened up the bedroom door to the office no one was there.  Both doors are very noisy when they open so im sure no-one opened them but the office was empty.

I went upstairs to make sure the kids were asleep.  They all were and my wife was on the bed with the little one.  I asked her if she heard anything and she said "5 minutes ago she heard kids running on the deck laughing"  Now we live in the country and there are no kids running around at 1am.

-I also saw a mans reflection in a window and have seen shapes and felt cold spots in one room of the house.

About 3 years ago a man killed his wife and kids in a house on the next street over and the kids (from what Im told used to play on the deck.

-Another time I was in the kitchen and felt a cold spot and blinked, when my eyes closed I saw a older man with a large mustache and redish hair. (this has never happened to me before)

We bought the house over and year ago and I asked the listing agent who knew the sellers if the house was haunted and she said not that she knew of.  I then asked her what the grandfather who died looked like.  She said "he had redish hair and a large mustache"

My 4 year old puts candy and chips, popcorn out for the "aliens" who look like people and says he has seen them in the living room.

So yeah im creeped out but not afraid we love the house and we dont tell the kids about our guests.

Jonathan: I haven't been on any here. But I have heard the pub tours are good (I guess after having enough spirits, you can see the spirits.) The most interesting looking to me is the hearse one. The have taken the roof off the hearse and placed chairs (actual chairs) inside on the floor so your head comes out of the top. I think it would just be fun riding through Savannah like that!

Larry: Wow, I don't know if I'd like all that. I had one weird experience when I was younger at a friend's house. We were up in her attic which was partially finished. There was a wall and behind that was the regular attic for storage. She had a bed up there to sleep in as well as one in her room. The door to the unfinished attic space was locked. We were laughing and goofing around until the door just flew open. It scared me. I ran for the stairs. Unfortunately, her cat loved to sleep on the steps. Well, I stepped on the cat. The cat screamed. I fell down all the stairs, which there were a lot of! But being a scientist, I later wrote this off as a change in pressure of the rooms and humidity difference.  I wouldn't know how to explain yours. I would be more than a little creeped out if I saw a man's reflection in a window! I loved the alien thing. That's sweet of him. They have to eat too you know!

The only ghost I'm afraid of is the exuberant client who disappears into thin air. :-)

I *would* love to take one of the ghost tours though- sounds very fun.
