Memorial used to be farmlands, and it wasn't until the 50's and 60's that Memorial experienced a period of suburban growth and the city expanded outside of the Loop.  Major development began, and with I-10's construction, Memorial became attractive and favorable to developers. Upper middle class subdivisions were built along with schools, police, fire services, road and major thoroughfares. Forty years later, the Memorial area reaches world-class recognition, and is now a major hotspot.  Home prices are generally higher than it's surrounding neighbors.
