I think I have the hang of Active Rain and wish I had heard about it before! How do I add associates? Do I have to wait for them to approve me? Or do I even NEED to add them? Can someone let me in on this?

Addition to previous blog question:

Okay, So I've added a bunch of people that I think look interesting and now my question to add to this one is;

what is associations? I have one person listed under this category, but I'm not sure how they got there!!

Welcome to AR.  I am relatively new too, but I have a few associates.  The ones I have selected write on topics that I am interested in learning more about.  i.e. SEO, social networking, etc.

All you need to do is click on 'subscribe to blog' if you find their writing or information helpful

Welcome to AR, you can add anyone as your associate from their profile page.  Just click the add associate button above their picture.  You do not need to have someone approve to add them as your associate.

Welcome to AR.  I've been a member for a short time and have, already, learned so much.  There is so much good information out there and so many helpful people with whatever you need.  Enjoy it!

If you go to "Getting Started" on the home page you will find the following explanation....

Associates are simply those people that you choose to associate with

Associations are those that choose to make associations with you

...... It's your way to create your own local group of contacts you'd like to keep in touch with and whose postings you'd like to keep up on.

Hope this helps!
