Wordless Wednesday in Preparation for D-Day

In preparation for D-Day which is Friday, I thought I would post of a couple of pictures of the American Cemetery in Normandy and Pointe Du Hoc up from Omaha Beach. We owe those brave soldiers so much; we must always remember and honor them. Our guide told us that the day we were there was very much like the weather on the D-Day in 1944.

Hi Yolanda,

Great photos and the fog in that top picture makes me feel like I was there. How many wonderful men and women lost their lives during the 30's and 40's but it is still happening today. Will we ever be a peace with the world?

Yolanda, Great post and reminder!  My Uncle was fortunate enough to survive Omaha Beach, he was one of the few!  He always said that the cemeteries there were full of the "real heroes" of this world!

Yolanda,

What was not said by Yolanda is that weather that Day back in 1944 was absolutely awful. Cold, foggy, windy, nasty. I have no idea how all those men and women sat in thoses boats for hours waiting? The Nazi's were entrenched and had superior defense with many large guns.  great pictures. Thanks for the reminder as June 6 is the day! We all should say a prayer for those folks who fought that battle and won! Normandy is a fantastic place to visit and remember!
