Time Flies….

How many times have you said that in your life?  I remember growing up and I couldn’t wait until I was 16 so I could drive.  And then I just wanted to turn 18 to graduate, then of course 21!  I remember hearing “Don’t be in such a hurry to grow up” or “Life happens too fast, enjoy your youth”.

I’ve often thought that the beginning of life is in phases of 7 years.  0-7 all the major growth and development occurs, 8-14 your adolescent years, 15-21 you start making your own decisions and learning who you are. This is even true as an adult but more in the decade periods.

I am not sure if all this pondering has something to do with turning 40 a few weeks ago, but I have been spending a lot of time reflecting and deciding who I want to be when I turn 50.   I have some big plans for my life in the next decade – big audacious goals!

What an incredible year we had from spring of last year to today.  Our Grandson Bracken just turned 1.  Of course, timing is never always perfect, but that little boy owns me and he knows it.  I whispered to him when he was born that him and I were going to be partners in crime and boy that couldn’t be truer.  I don’t want him to grow up too fast, but I can’t wait for those special moments and milestones and watch his life story unfold.

Steve and I were married in Mexico last April for those of you that didn’t know. What a beautiful idea.  Just him and I (and the people playing volleyball right next to the ‘chapel’) exchanging vows with the ocean right at our feet.  We went back last month to celebrate our anniversary and might be my last trip to Mexico.  Montezuma certainly took its revenge on me and I am still not 100% healthy.

In my reflecting on who I am, who I want to be and my big audacious goals, I decided to take more time for my family, friends and clients and be fully present in the NOW.  Life is so fast paced that it is important to remember to slow down and live in the moment.  Which is why I am taking the time to write this from my heart and take that moment to introduce to you not just Venus Howard, your Realtor…rather, Venus Howard, the mom, wife, grandma and friend.  You’ll be hearing more from me and updates about who I am and I hope you enjoy my stories, anecdotes and crazy moments as I pass them along.  I would love to hear more from you and your family as well.

So I leave you with this….I don’t want  you to ever look back and say I wish I should have…or could have…..  Take the moments and embrace them.  Live the life you fully deserve with the ones that matter and DON’T MISS A THING (because time really does fly and you can’t get it back)!!

"I decided to take more time for my family, friends and clients and be fully present in the NOW."

Good for you, Venus.  I have a cousin who just retired; he is in late 60's.  I remarked to him about the time he would now have for his family, vacations, and so forth.  He said, "I worked 12 and 14 hour days all my life... now I am tired, my health is not good, my kids are grown and my grandkids are in high school.  I wish I had taken time then and not worked so much."
