Weekend schedules are filing up fast but there still are events one should make time for.  The weather may not be perfect but it’s Wisconsin and we love it anyway.

Since the weather has warmed up it’s time to get that vegetable garden planted that you’ve wanted to do for years. Most greenhouses have their starter plants on sale and you can pick up a small garden’s worth for not that much money. You can grow most veggies in container gardens if you don’t have lawn space for a little garden plot.

Get out & enjoy the Marquette Neighborhood 25th Waterfront Festival. So much music and food you won’t know where to start. I would get myself a few different snack options and claim a spot by the Folk Stage and mellow out to the Acoustic beats. There will tons for the kids to do like a hay ride, games, rides, Dandelion dash and other fun events. There will also be a family friendly canoe race at Noon with prizes.

Waterfront Festival, Yahara Place Park 2025 Yahara Pl Madison Sat 6/7-Sun 6/8 starting at 8am

If small town fest are more your thing it’s Mount Horeb’s Summer Frolic Thursday to Sunday this weekend.  It’s a great way to kick off summer! There will be a Wisconsin Craft Beer Tent, Mud Volleyball, Corn Hole Tournament, Talent Show, music, Dog Show, Norsk Run/Walk, Fireworks, Parade, Carnival Rides, Youth Baseball, Bingo and a raffle with over $16,000 in prizes!

Grundahl Park Mount Horeb 400 Blue Mound St Mount Horeb Thursday 6/5-Sunday 6/8

Were you unable to go to New Orleans this year for Mardi Gras, here is your chance to celebrate it Wisconsin style. Prairie du Chien’s Cajun Fest. The whole community turns out for this festival and a good time is had by all. The Cajun King & Queen will start it all off. Get a good spot for the parade so you can get some colorful beads. You won’t need to show your naughty bit to get them. Carnival games and rides, authentic Cajun food, music and a bit of Voodoo in the air. Sounds like a good time to me!
Prairie du Chien, Feriole Island Ball Park Friday 6/6-Sun 6/8

Looking to get further out of town? What about Osceola’s Rhubarb Days. This event is only a few years old but it keeps growing & getting better. The event is a benefit for their local Library.  There will be Rhubarb wine tasting, music, a movie under the stars, bake sale, bluff walk and train rides. Tons of things for adults and kids to do. Plus there’s Free Pasties for the first 400 people. I wonder if they would notice if I came in twice.

Osceola Mill Pond Park Friday 6/6 and Saturday 6/7

Speakers, Venders, cooking demonstrations and free Vegan samples are all on the schedule. It’s a great time to find out about a different lifestyle that you were always wondering about. Silent auction, great food (Turkey Legs), kid’s activities, a dragon lady stiltwalker and so much more! Make time Saturday for this exciting event.

On the Capitol Square on Saturday there will be Cows on the Concourse, Cars on State Str and the Farmers market. Three events that you shouldn’t miss. Fitchburg is also holding a Flea Market Sunday 6/8 7 to 1 at McGaw Park at 5236 Lacy Rd. Grab some cash and see what treasures you can find!

Most important is that you get out of the house and enjoy what the Madison area has to offer on the weekends.
