Fly high!

robin

(SHS Photo)

The robins are back.

In force.

They flew all the way back from Texas and some points further south,

to spring in the Midwest and Canada.

Where there are still some places facing winter weather.

But the robins aren't going back, even if it does snow.

Again.

Even if it's cold and windy,

they will naturally seek out a sunny, warm place.

Turn their backs to the wind,

and observe what is going on all around them

before they decide which way to fly.

Something to learn-

when things might not be going the way

we expect them to.

I'm feeling like that robin looks... sitting here in my room at the Hilton in ATL, waiting to see Bob from AR and all the gurus who will be at the RE TECH South event today.... then I will get my bearings!

Steve--I was always excited to see the first spring robin until the weather guy decide to tell us that many robins winter in MN now as our winters are milder. Of course this was a weatherman and they are not always right are they? The big storm passed us by today...yeah! Hope it goes by Milwaukee as well as I hear you guys have had more than your share. :)

"Even if it snows again". We were blanketed last night and I trust all the little guy who's been frantically nest building are hole up somewhere warm...burrrr. Turn your back to the wind and weather out the storm...good advice ;-)

    Colleen!

I was out looking for him and his mate - they usually nest under our deck out back, but they didn;t even get a start. The tend to hole up in the pine trees.

I was just glad to see them back!

Wow Steve, what kind of camera were you using?  It has great clarity.  You may try to tell me the photo is great because of the operator instead of the tool. :)

    The robins distinct instinct

Makes them live a destiny of their choosing

Even though today it did decide to snow

    They are here to stay

Following their hearts, they will not go

Around here, a lot of th ebirds stay through the winter so they do things a little different.  The cardinals have brightened their reds up, the gold finches have gathered in the yellow of the sun, the blue jays have taken all th ebright blue from the sky, the red tail hawks must have been playing in the red clay as their tails are much more visible, the canadian geese are more striking as they sit in the grass by the pond, and finally the mallard ducks have already figured it out as they are the very first to show off their family with 12 ducklings swiming around mom.  The geese are sitting on a nest in the grass and the rest of them are getting brighter so the can catch the best of the best and get thier family started.  I just love the spring.  Even the flowers are showing off.

    Latonia,

    Thanks for  the compliment!

In my other life, I spent over twenty years behind the lens - that is some of it. :)

The photo was shot with a Nikon D100, Nikkor ED-IF 80-200,, zoom lens, ASA 200, JPG Fine/Large file (8 megs) captured and tweaked in Photoshop Elements 4.

...if you love taking pictures, you can only love it more and more!

    Keep Shooting!
