Throwback Thursday-My Dad Feb-June 1944 in Flying School in Stillwater, Missouri
My mother was really big on scrap booking from the time she married. I went through her book today and found the pages to see where my dad was on D-Day 1944.
Here are some pictures of my dad and his classmates.
He was in the Army Air Corp (later renamed the Air Force) and stationed at Stillwater, Missouri February 1944 where he went through flying school. I am sure they were very upset and wished they could have been there.
Here is a photo dated June 15, 1944 when he went to San Antonio, Texas. I think this is where he went to navigation school.

Today, June 6, 2014 is the 70th Anniversary of the Normandy Invasion. Many great men did not return and the one who did return are at least 88 years or older.
It was a great battle and a turning point for the end of the war. I heard the radio announcement President Roosevelt gave on this day. It was a prayer and they say that over 10 million Americans prayed with him during this message. It gave me goose bumps to hear his words so long ago while the men where in the middle of the invasion.
