How do you handle those forwarded emails from friends?

I don't like forwarding email that is sent to me urging me to send it on to so many people and I may get money from Bill Gates, or that I will have good fortune within 24 hours, or that the prayer chain will go around the world, or my gas price will drop, or any other thing that is sure to happen if I just forward.

They die at my computer and I feel no remorse.

My question to you is, however, what do you do with those claiming to love you so much and that you should tell the other people that you love them and that you should send the love back to the person who sent it?  Do you dump those too?  Do you send it back to the one who sent it only so as not to have them think you don't love them or appreciate them?

This is sure trivial but if you happen to be one of those people who forward and want an answer back, tell me your feelings.  Do you feel unloved if the message doesn't bounce back?

Delete them. They often contain a virus.

Usually I just let them die with me, but some people will be crushed so I send it back to them but not on to anyone else.

Barbara,

I didn't get an email from Bill Gates, suppose he ran out of money?  By the way, who is Steve?

I delete them--and if it requires opening an attachment I won't even open it.  Aren't we all pretty busy!

Michael, that is a good reason and one that I use for not opening them.

Keith, I think most of them are realizing they come to my computer and die....

Kathleen, that's exactly what I wondered if some of you do.  Thanks.

It is one of those urban legends that you can find on the urban legend web site.  It's a farce but you'd be surprised how many people forward that thing.

Mary, Bill Gates knows you have enough money already.  You have excessive opulence with a pot filler kitchen and a theater room.

Charlie, Steve should send us some money occasionally as much as we help him with his blogs.  I mean comments are not cheap!

Leslie, I delete attachments too but some are just spelled out in the email to forward and be sure to return if you love the person.....

I must admit, I sent them back to the people that sent it to me...so they think I sent it out  :) :)

Konnie, you little devil you!  I hope they don't read this blog.  But I do think that is the best solution!

Barbara, I'm with you on this one.  Even if it is cute if it has that tag about sending to your friends or even sending back; it dies on the vine with me.  There have been a few exceptions; maybe it came from someone who rarely sends me anything; then I will send it back.  When it is from the usual suspects it dies on the vine.

Marchel,  I feel pangs of guilt sometimes because I really DO care about the person but don't want to encourage bad habits.  So they just fade away at my computer.
