The weather is warming up and NY is looking really good for a vacation spot or just a pass through.
Nearly 2 years ago I took a trip with my daughter to Long Island where we resided all of her life and most of mine. We currently live in Florida and to go back was just an awesome opportunity and a time of great appreciation for all that we were surrounded by.
We lived in the Shirley/Moriches area for the last 2 and a half years before we moved and one of our favorite places to go was Smith Point Beach. The waves are great and just on the other side of the beach is the Great South Bay which extends for quite a distance along the south shore of Long Island.
Fire Island is the Barrier Island along the south side of long Island. Smith Point beach is one of the many beaches along that Barrier Island, it has so much to offer. Fishing, camping, swimming, scuba diving and you can visit the TWA Flight 800 Memorial.
The Memorial represents a very sad and tragic time, a place in history that effected many, many families. There is plenty to learn and plenty to see there. It is very tastefully landscaped and if it weren't a memorial you'd just love to go there and spend time for the beauty's sake.

This is the beautifully landscaped walkway leading up to the Memorial. The Memorial overlooks the crashing waves along the beach, such an amazing place to visit.
One of my favorite things to do is to stop at a deli early in the morning, drive into the park overlooking the Great South Bay and enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a buttered roll as we watch the deer out for their morning meal. You do know that they just don't make buttered rolls like that in Florida and the deer are not as abundant either!

Being one who is not to thrilled with bridges, this is one that I can handle! If you stay long enough you might even get to see a larger vessel go through the drawbridge section... but don't get caught past that light or you'll be in for an interesting trip!

Have a great time visiting NY and if you are thinking of buying some Real Estate up there please give my friend Mike Morris a call and he'll take good care of you. 631-878-6080
Remember, its NY in the summer and Florida in the winter so...

Be sure to put historic Orange County, NY on your list of areas to visit when you come to NY.
