What Retirees/Seniors want in their West Virginia Dream Home
Beazer Homes and ActiveRain have challenged bloggers to write about a feature that we would most like to see in a new home. As a Lewisburg, WV Realtor, I get many calls from retirees/seniors looking for a gated community with one-level homes (patio or detached homes). We do not have any patio homes or one-level homes in a gated community in Lewisburg WV.
Retirees out of state and seniors that live here would like a nice gated community. Most say that they want to live in West Virginia six months out of the year, and the other six months as snowbirds in Florida.
There is plenty of land near and around the historic town of Lewisburg WV….so builders here is what the retirees/seniors are looking for in this area.
-
first and foremost, a gated community
- patio home, or detached homes with some space between houses
-
2-3 bedrooms and 2-3 baths
-
an open floor plan with a large kitchen for entertaining
-
upscale appliances
-
plenty of storage and large closets
-
a separate laundry room
- a screened in porch/sunroom
-
an oversize two-car garage with some built-ins for storage
-
a patio/deck in the backyard
-
a nice small front yard
-
a community center
- near or close to town for shopping and doctor’s offices.
The retirees that will also be snowbirds, want the security of a gated community and to be close to historic town of Lewisburg because of all the events in the area, shopping, theatres, doctors, hospital, and grocery stores.
As for me and my husband, we will eventually want to downsize, and a gated community of patio or detached ranch homes would be ideal in Lewisburg, WV!
I do hope builders are listening….retirees from out of state want to move to Lewisburg and have the security of a gated community when they are here and when they are away.
