Home Staging Tip- 8 Tips to Make Sure Your Doors Aren’t Keeping Your Buyers from Seeing the House!
As you are preparing your house for sale, you will not want to overlook your doors and the areas around them. Your doors do much more than serve as a portal through which your buyers will pass.
They are what says “Welcome, please come in” to your Buyer. This is also where your Buyer waits in eager anticipation to see your property while your agent is retrieving the key to get into your property.
While they’re waiting, your Buyer has plenty of time to look around, up and down at your entryway and door.
This is so important! At a Staging Consultation recently, the agent and I could not get out to view the pool area. One door was stuck and the other had so many locks and bars on it, we couldn’t get out.
Check these Staging Tips to make sure your doors aren’t keeping your buyers from seeing the house!
Front Door:
1. Visit yourself! Most of us rarely use our front door, so it’s a good idea to go to yours and see exactly what your buyers will see.
2. Check the hardware.Update it if it needs it, polish it and clean it. Remember, this is one of the first impressions your house will leave on your Buyer.
3. Make sure it works.
Don’t make their agent struggle trying to get into the door. Check the locks and make sure they work.
4. If your door needs it, sand it, paint it, or consider a new one.
5. Make sure the area is clean and fresh.
Get rid of spider webs and dirt, get a fresh Welcome Mat and make it sparkle.
Back Patio Sliders:
1. Make sure your Buyer can get out to see your patio/pool area.
This is so important!
Remove all of your locks, bars, clips, and whatever you use to secure your patio door before a showing. Don’t make the agent and their buyers stand there breaking fingernails, etc. trying to get out to see your pool/patio area.
2. Make sure your patio doors will slide and not get stuck when your Buyers walk out.
Call a professional if it is sticking or easily comes off track
3. Clean the tracks.
This will take some work, but it’s part of the house and you need to make it clean.
If you’re preparing your home for sale, take some time to make sure that your doors are sending the right message to your buyers.
