My dream home - actually, I don't want it all! I would be happy with a little bungalow directly on the beach. As we age, our requirements become somewhat more realistic but when I listen to clients, I know what THEY want and what seems to be the most popular choice home for more and more clients.

People want a SMART HOME! I hear it again and again. The home that they can be sure is locked even if they are at the airport. The home that they can regulate the temperature to be increased or decreased BEFORE they arrive home, so they enter to the ideal temperature. The home that will turn the lights on/off, open the garage as they enter the driveway (without the old battery operated remote) and so much more.

There are a few builders of smart homes but not enough. The prices are, naturally, high. Supply and demand. As more and more people want to own their own smart home, prices will decrease. So when you ask what is the dream home of more and more of my clients, I have to say that people want a SMART HOME!

Surprisingly I have yet to have a buyer specificaly ask for a "smart" home, although many want all the modern conveniences, including technology

Barb, I have seen some of these smart homes and they are impressive. The technology is so far advanced now that the smart circuitry can do almost anything.

I think you correct as many folks want a smart home of one kind or another. our new securiuty system let us regulate the temps, lights, etc. from smart phone, lap top or tablet. Our home is not a smart home as it was built back in 1998 - 1999. Good post for this challenge.
