Photgraphy Tip

Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

We have all seen horrible photographs of listings.  Every MLS has them!  On Tuesday, Darcy and I were at a training that Realtor.com put on.  One of the best parts of the training was when Max Pigman went over some of the new technology and cameras.

To make a long story short, he had a tip that was so simple that it was one of those moments where you say to yourself, why didn't I think of that.  Most Realtors use cameras with the pop up or built in flash systems.  These are handy and great, but to photograph a large room, it is just too much for the flash.  Almost always, you get some pretty deep shadows reguardless of how much you can turn up the flash.

His idea was to buy a work spot light.  The kind that have the clamps on the back.  You can get them at Home Depot or any hardware store for around $20.  His tip was to clamp the light on the door frame behind you, and aim it into the dark part of the room and take your pictures.  (This won't work if there is no electricity.) It was something that I hadn't thought of, but it has to a lot less expensive than those reflectors that professional photographers use.  Good Luck and have a great rest of the week!

Good tip Tony & Darcy and you're right, sometimes it's just the easiest simple things that amaze us.

Hi,

A very good idea, we allways think about the more costly solutions.

I will share that one with my husband.  We have started using a photomatrix program that has made a huge difference in our pictures.  We bought a Canon digital XRI but really had problems with the lighting and between that camera and the program our lighting is much better but that would also be a simple fix.
