In 2007 I wrote the blog post "Family Fun in Austin, Texas" and since it has been awhile, I thought I would revisit the topic. Austin certainly has no shortage of family fun options, many of which have opened since I first wrote the original post on this topic. So, without further ado, here are some more ideas for family fun in Austin!

Austin Aquarium LogoAustin Aquarium - The Austin Aquarium opened in December of 2013 to much fanfare and excitement. Located on 183 South, just past Lake Creek Parkway, the Austin Aquarium is open 365 days a year, and provides discounts from time to time.

Thinkery Logo Thinkery - The new Austin Children's Museum is located  east of I-35 off Airport Boulevard. Thinkery is being hailed  as the evolution of Austin Children's Museum, offering a  wide array of creative activities for children of all ages, the Thinkery is a great place to stimulate your kiddos' brains with cool ideas.

Big Top Candy Shop Interior

Big Top Candy Shop - When you're looking for a fun treat, head over to Big Top Candy Shop. This circus-themed confectionary is located downtown on South  Congress. Big Top satiates your sweet tooth with  prepackaged or bulk candies, as well as handmade chocolates, ice cream shakes, and awesome and odd treats including chocolate covered bacon. Yes, you read that correctly.  :)

Hamilton Pool Preserve

Hamilton Pool - This beautiful nature preserve located  West of Austin is a historic swimming hole surrounded by  a collapsed grotto and canyon. It has been photographed often and is known for its natural beauty.

Hawaiian Falls Pflugerville - The long awaited new  waterpark has arrived as of June 2014! Though it is still under construction, portions of the park are currently open and operating, and the second section is due to open soon.

Jumpstreet Cedar Park

Jump Street - This trampoline park is located Just outside of Lakeline Mall in Cedar Park. This place is not your average "bouncy house" gym. It is filled with tons of trampolines, mazes and an "earthquake zone" and is guaranteed to keep even the most active kids entertained. Age restrictions  apply to certain areas for safety.

Ceramics Bayou

Ceramics Bayou - If you would like to introduce your children to the ancient art of pottery, Ceramics Bayou is  the place for you! Located on Bee Caves road, this fun  artistic outing teaches your kids how to paint their own  pottery, which will then be fired and available for pickup  the next day!
