I have been fortunate enough to see incredible parts of this world including most of the US, Hawaii, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, France, Scotland, and Ireland. They have each left their unique stamp on what beauty means to me though not one is even worthy of comparison to what I have in my own backyard: Colorado.
I am a big fan of getting off the beaten path (or at least getting out of the car and getting on the paved path). Independence Pass is a stop I hope to never forget. At 12,096 feet, it's easy to see why the early settlers here were willing to suffer through the harsh winters: the crisp mountain air, hypnotic spans of mountains, the quiet solitude...these mountains are a timeless treasure.
