Petaluma to Boise....

The move to Boise from Petaluma, California, Why?  The reasons could be endless or just a simple one like love, or lifestyle or a job.  Whatever your reason to be looking to move to Boise or you are, you will not regret it!

In October of 2013 I did the move, for endless list of reason, my wife had just passed from cancer a few months earlier, cost of living, school system for my 8 year old, and lifestyle.  I cannot say enough about Boise and agree with Forbes as a top 10 place to live and raise a family.

It’s a hidden gem in the US that people are starting to take notice.  This whole area is beautiful, with Boise River running right through heart of town, Bogus Basin with is part of Saw Tooth Mountain range is just 16 miles north of Boise.  I live on the Boise Greenbelt, which is paved path paralleling the Boise River.  I watch every day as folks commute on the path to work, exercise or walk to relax.  I have never gone on the path and not seen someone fishing, jogging, biking and  the wildlife…hawks, Bold Eagles, Osprey, Beavers, Ducks, deer, snakes, lizards and so much more.  I saw a Bold Eagle the other day flying 12 inches above the river, it was an amazing site right out National Geographic.  I will continue to write weekly about The Greenbelt.

The home prices are half what you can purchase in most areas of California.  The average home price is $207,000, up from $187,000 a year ago.  I have two homes presently listed one for $179,000, a 3 bedroom 2 bath, about 1425 sqft and $215,000 a larger 3 bed room 2 bath, just over 2,000 sqft.  Both in one of the best school districts in town. These are right in the medium price for homes.  You can find homes on lakes, ponds or river for under $400,000.  Check out my website www.dlupsha.johnlscott.com to search for homes in the area.

What do I miss about California?  Living 20 minutes from the ocean, our friends and family and IN & OUT BURGER.  I miss In & Out a lot, since I don’t do fast food and it was the only place I could eat it.  I don’t miss, Traffic, Politics, High Taxes, Proposition 13, crime, paying to go the beach, pushy people and constant worry that I had.  You know that uneasy feeling you always have about economy, crime, your child’s education ect. Ect. I don’t have it as bad, I feel more on stable ground.

I can’t write how much I like Boise in one blog or about the transition from Petaluma, California to Boise.  If you have questions, just ask them.  I could turn this into a novel and that’s not what blogs are about.  I hope you liked this, but please come back and check out future blogs.

Sounds like a very nice place to live. I think I will have to add it to my list of places to check out.
