What's in My Dream Home?
This is a fun contest for me. There are some features in houses that I'd want, but there are a few that I NEED to really enjoy the place I call home. Home for me is a place to relax and feel comfortable. In my dream home, the things that are most important to me would all be accounted for. I have a lot of interests, and therefore a lot of 'things', but I also despise clutter. I love relaxing and enjoying silence while reading a book or playing guitar, but I also love entertaining and having friends and family over for dinner and drinks. My dream home would accomodate all of the things that I love, and do away with all of the things I don't.
The Kitchen
This is where I'd splurge. I enjoy going out for a nice meal and drinks from time to time, but what I really love is shopping for my own food, preparing, and cooking a meal for myself and loved ones. At least 3-4 nights each week my girlfriend and I will cook, either together or for each other. My dream home would have a kitchen rivaling those seen on the food network. High powered stove, hibachi-style grilltop, double-wall ovens, etc, complete with prep areas and sinks. Plenty of counterspace, and room to entertain. A large kitchen island for family and friends to gather around, and of course doors leading from the kitchen to an outdoor deck or patio area complete with a grill, smoker, and dining area.
The Rec Area
Playing guitar, watching movies, reading books - my dream home has a large, comfortable room just for this - far away from the noises of the rest of the house. There's a wine cellar, there's a wet bar, and there's room for a ton of musical instruments and lots of comfy furniture.
The Yard
I didn't move to southern California because I like spending my time indoors. My dream home has a large patio/deck area for entertaining, space for entertaining and games, and perhaps maybe even a nice pool and pool deck to relax when company is over or on especially hot days.
The Organizers
I have lots of 'stuff'. Sporting equipment, musical gear, books, office stuff, and more. I hate clutter, so a spot to keep everything hidden away, out of sight when I don't need it, is important. Book shelves in the walls or alongside stairways, racks for guitars, bikes & kayaks, and other smart organizational features. I'm not a fan of huge homes, but I am a fan of open space and organization, so things like walk in closets, closets in bathrooms, and hidden storage are all features that I really enjoy having.
I think I'd be flexible on many other things so long as I have the above 4. With that being said, it's back to work so I can someday afford to build my dream home! Need financing for your dream home? Give me a call at 484-680-4852.
