Tonight Garrison Keilor will open Tanglwood's 77th season with a live broadcast of Prairie Home Companion. The show is broadcast on National Public Radio and I listen to it always wherever it is broadcast from. I went last year and it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. That said, the real show starts after the broadcast is over. I could no longer stand after two and a half hours of everything from jazz to soul, classical to rock. If you ever get a chance to see this show, go.....you will be glad you did.
I listen to Garrison every Saturday nite on the radio! Goingt o Tanglewood the first week of August and a Berkshire weekend. Looking forward to it!
What a double win. I've been to Tanglewood many times, and it's very special. What a great way to kick the season off. I remember when you went to see him last year. I sometimes listen to him on NPR, too.
Chief Cook would love to attend this, Sheila. I hope that you are able to go. Should be a fun time!
I have always wanted to attend one of these shows, Sheila. Had no idea the party starts "after" the broadcast. Glad you had a chance to go...will you attend this one too?
Standing for 2.5 hours is not in the cards for me. I have to concert view with seats. We went to grand old opry this year, loved that show. We're seeing Fleetwood Mac in December, can't wait.
Good afternoon friends and thank you for stopping by and leaving your comments and offering your support: I really appreciate it.
Hello Mark. It is a magical place for sure. 500+ acres, each prettier than the other and that is the setting for the music and the people. Thank you.
Hi Joanna. I knew you were coming and now I know when. I would love to meet you. Send me your number or call mine and let's do it.
Hello Debbie. how very special for you to remember when I saw him last year. Come and visit.....
Hi Ron. Yes, I am working tonight: well volunteering but it is the same thing. I leave shortly and looking forward to it. You and cook are always welcome to come for a visit. You could bring me a potting bench :).
Hello Debb. Yes, I am working there tonight as a Greeter, my volunteer gig. You are always welcome if you get out this way.
Hi Tammy. They have screens outside so if you have a lawn seat you can see. (relatively new thing) After the formal concert those with the seats inside largely stand and move as close to the stage as possible. I'm a sitter too but last year I was inside.
Thanks all.
Sheila
